In any case, only authorised persons on our part have access to your data and only to the extent necessary for the purposes mentioned above. All data transfer is encrypted.

D. Cookies

Liebherr uses cookies to identify your preferences and optimise its websites. That makes navigation easier for you and makes the Liebherr Website highly user friendly

I. What are cookies?

Cookies are small files which are stored on your device. They may be used to determine whether your device has already communicated with our website. Only the cookie on your end device is identified. Cookies may contain personal data if you have consented to it or it is technically necessary, e.g. to enable protected login.

For more information on cookies, see www.allaboutcookies.org.

II. What do we use cookies for?

We use cookies

  • to guarantee a secure Internet environment;
  • to monitor our website performance;
  • to assess the way in which you use the Liebherr Website so that we can improve our services. For example, we can identify if a process is too complex and is causing users to cancel part way through. That knowledge enables us to simplify process steps and make them more customer oriented;
  • to improve user-friendliness, transparency for our customers and the online experience.

We do not use our cookies to trace your Internet activities beyond our website.

III. What types of cookies do we use and what is their purpose?

1. Session cookies

Session cookies are erased once the browser is closed. They record the website navigation and the length of the session and store your login information for the duration of the website visit. Moreover, session cookies keep your login active during the session.

2. Persistent cookies or tracking codes

Persistent cookies or tracking code do not contain any personal data. They record where the website is opened from, which search engine and search term was used, which link was followed, and the user’s location at the time they accessed the website. They also record the number of visits and the duration of the first, current and previous visit. These cookies only register visits to our website. Visiting other websites does not activate them.

3. Retargeting or re-marketing

Our website uses retargeting technologies to make the Internet service more interesting for you. Your visits to certain websites are marked with cookies and later identified on other websites. We believe that personalised advertisements based on interests are, in general, more interesting to Internet users than impersonal advertising. The insertion of that advertising on our partners’ pages is based on cookie technology and an analysis of the user’s previous activities. This form of advertising is completely anonymous. No personal data is stored and no usage profiles are merged with your personal data.

4. Conversion tracking

See E. Use of Google techniques

IV. Can I erase the cookies stored on my device?

You can erase the cookies stored for the Liebherr Website. If you do so, however, your individual data and content, including your cookie settings, will be lost and you will not be recognized as a returning visitor next time you visit our website.

V. Do you agree to our cookies?

Our website’s user concept includes some online features designed to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. However, they only work with cookies. If you continue to browse our website, you agree to the use of cookies. You can withdraw your consent at any time.

VI. How can I withdraw my consent to the use of cookies?

If you do not want us to recognise your device, you can prevent cookies from being stored on your hard drive by selecting “Do not accept cookies” in your browser settings. For details of how this works, please refer to your browser’s user guide.

You can set your browser so that storage of cookies is agreed with only if you give consent. If you do not want to accept the cookies of our service providers and partners, you can select the “Block third-party cookies” setting in your browser.

In general, the help function in your web browser’s menu bar will show you how to reject new cookies and switch off ones you already have.

Please note, however, that some “essential” cookies are crucial for unrestricted navigation of our website and for selection and design. We use those cookies only to monitor the website’s efficiency and record the frequency of visits.

E. Use of Google techniques

I. How can I prevent the storage of Google techniques (Cookies)?

If you do not want Liebherr to collect and analyze data about your visit, you can opt out at any time for the future.

For technical implementation of this objection, an opt-out cookie will be placed in your browser. This cookie is used solely for the purpose of assigning your objection. Please note that for technical reasons, an opt-out cookie can only be used for the browser from which it was set. If you erase the cookies or use another browser or device, you will need to opt out again.

Installing the opt-out cookie. Alternatively, you can download and install the browser plug-in available under the following link.

II. What is Google Analytics?

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). Google Analytics uses cookies, which are stored on your computer and make it possible to analyze how you use the website. The data generated by the cookie about your use of this website is normally sent to a Google server in the USA, where it is stored. However, if IP anonymization is activated on this website, your IP address is abbreviated in advance by Google within member states of the European Union or in other states that are signatories to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address sent to a Google server in the USA and abbreviated there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to analyze your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity, and to provide other services for the website operator related to the use of the website and the Internet. The IP address relayed by your browser within the scope of Google Analytics is not linked to other Google data. You can prevent cookies being stored by configuring your browser software accordingly, but please note that, if you do so, you may not be able to use all of this website’s functions in full. Moreover, you can prevent Google from collecting and processing the data generated by the cookies about your use of the website (including your IP address) by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under the following link with effect for the future: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en.

III. What is Google AdWords?

We use the online advertising program “Google AdWords” and, in the context of Google AdWords, conversion tracking. The cookies for conversion tracking are set if a user clicks on an advertisement placed by Google. These cookies expire after 30 days and are not used to identify individuals.

If the user visits certain pages on the AdWords customer’s website and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and the customer will be able to identify that the user has clicked on the advertisement and was redirected to that page. Each customer receives a different cookie. Cookies cannot, therefore, be tracked through AdWords customers’ websites.

The information obtained with the conversion cookie is used to generate conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted in to conversion tracking. Customers find out the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page with a conversion tracking tag. They do not, however, receive information that personally identifies users.

Google AdWords is only used if you expressly agree to its use via the cookie banner.

If you would like to deactivate cookies for conversion tracking, you can set your browser so that cookies from the “googleadservices.com” domain are blocked.

For more information on data protection in the context of the online advertising program Google AdWords, see https://www.google.de/policies/privacy.

IV. What is DoubleClick?

DoubleClick by Google is a service of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). DoubleClick by Google uses cookies to display advertisements which are relevant to you. Your browser is assigned a identification number (ID) in pseudonym form to check which advertisements have been incorporated in your browser and which have been viewed. The cookies do not contain any personal information. The use of DoubleClick cookies enables Google and its partner websites only to place advertisements on the basis of previous visits to our website or other websites on the Internet. Google transfers the information generated by the cookies to a server in the USA for evaluation and stores them there. Google transfers the data to third parties only on the grounds of legal provisions or for the purpose of the commissioned data processing. Under no circumstances will Google combine its data with other data recorded by Google.

With your consent, which you can give on your first visit to the Liebherr Website via the incorporated banner, you declare that you agree to Google processing the data collected about you, the method of data processing described above and the stated purpose. You can prevent cookies being stored by configuring your browser software accordingly, but please note that, if you do so, you may not be able to use all of the Liebherr Website’s functions in full.

Moreover, you can prevent Google from collecting and processing the data generated by the cookies about your use of the Liebherr Website by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under the following link https://adssettings.google.com/ under DoubleClick Deactivation Add-on. Alternatively, you can deactivate DoubleClick cookies on the Digital Advertising Alliance website under the following link.

F. Integration of third-party services and content

Third-party content, such as YouTube videos, maps from Google Maps, RSS feeds or graphics from other websites may be integrated into the Liebherr Website. This always requires the providers of this content (hereinafter referred to as “third-party providers”) to detect the user’s IP address. Without the IP address, they would not be able to send the content to the user’s browser. The IP address is, therefore, needed for the content to be displayed. We endeavour only to use content from providers who use IP addresses only for the purpose of delivering the content. However, we have no influence on whether or not the third-party provider stores the IP address, e.g. for statistical purposes. If we know about it, we will inform the users.

G. Rights of the data subject and right of appeal

The legal framework gives you the right to

  • Information about your data.
  • Rectification of inaccurate data and completion of incomplete data.
  • Erasure of your data, in particular, if it is no longer necessary for the purposes specified in the Data Privacy Statement, you have withdrawn your consent and there is no other legal grounds for the processing, your data has been unlawfully processed or you object to the processing and there are no overriding legitimate grounds for the processing.
  • Restriction of the processing of your data, in particular if you contest the accuracy of the data or the processing of your data is unlawful and you request the restriction of its use instead of its erasure.
  • The right to receive your data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and to transmit your data directly to another controller.

You also have the right to appeal to the competent supervisory authority.
